DOBERMANN IV evolved from the first and most classic Extrema Ratio knife, the K1 DOBERMANN.
Over the years, the DOBERMANN has undergone significant change in look and design to meet evolving consumer expectations and ever-changing trends, while at its core retaining consistency with the original 1997 design.
This last iteration, too, excels at structural durability and flexibility of use: perhaps our most versatile knife, the DOBERMANN IV is suitable for hunting, outdoors survival, camping, defense, up to and encompassing military use.

DOBERMANN IV Africa is a knife dedicated to hunting professionals. It is equipped with a Santos Rosewood handle and a blade made of Böhler N690 steel, the time-tested Austrian steel enriched with chromium, vanadium, molybdenum and cobalt. Used by Extrema Ratio to produce its blades, this steel is characterized by the perfect balance between hardness, resistance and resilience, which are essential to obtain effective and long-lasting sharpening.
Dobermann IV Africa is sold with an additional Forprene handle, necessary for carrying out jobs that wood cannot withstand due to its structure – the Rosewood handle is obviously softer than a high-performance steel like our N690. In case of use in Bushcraft and Survival mode, such as for batoning and chopping, the wooden handle must be replaced with the Forprene handle. The user will be able to change the grip easily depending on the needs. The knife also comes with an Italian-made leather sheath, a sharpening stone and a steel wedge.
Unlike the other DOBERMANN IVs, the DOBERMANN IV S600 is made of Böhler S600 steel. This material is used for manufacturing metalwork and stamp-creation tools. The high content of molybdenum, tungsten and a good presence of vanadium in its chemical composition provide excellent qualities of hardness, wear resistance and toughness. The presence of cobalt stimulates the growth of small uniformly distributed carbides, which enhance mechanical qualities such as bending capacity. The blade of DOBERMANN IV S600 is hardened and cryogenically treated, thus reaching an exceptional hardness of 64 HRC; this makes it very resistant to wear and gives the edge a lasting sharpening. Böhler S600 has 4.5% of chrome, which makes it oxidizable. For this reason, Extrema Ratio has chosen the new EXP DARK Teflon-based finish.
DOBERMANN IV S600 is equipped with a green forprene handle. DOBERMANN IV S600 is equipped with a cordura thigh sheath, also in green colour; it comes with a M.O.L.L.E. fixing system and can be adapted to both left-handed and right-handed people.
